Art Exploration

Drama Discovery
CLOSED

Students will activate their body, voice and imagination to create exciting and believable performances. They will explore theatre techniques through character development, drama games, puppets, and scene work. The ancient world will be integrated into this year’s class in several ways- including creating their own Greek Myth, performing Aesops Fables, working with puppets and doing mask work in a Greek Chorus.
Science Labs
Science concepts will be learned in the context of ancient history. Students will learn about some of the great scientific minds of
the ancient world, like Hippocrates and Aristotle, while learning about the scientific principles they discovered through participation in
hands on experiments and activities. We will explore
physical science, biology, astronomy and more. Students will also learn and apply the scientific method.
Elementary and Middle Literature
Students will love listening to or reading classic children’s books that are related in some way to the Ancient Times. Together we will make books come alive through engaging games, activities and movement. Students will also grow their literary skills and knowledge.
Music Makers Beginner and Intermediate
In these classes, the student’s natural desire and love for music will flourish. As students engage in various games and activities, they will learn basic music theory, rhythm, singing techniques and sight reading. Students will discover their true voice.
Older Students Classes
Ages 13-18
Physics/Lab
In this class, we will learn the basic concepts of Physics through the lens of the Ancient world. We will also study the effects of technology as a solution to historical problems. Students will be required to formulate ideas based on the scientific process and defend their ideas. We will explore the physical world with hands-on experiments and activities.
Choir/Voice
In this class, the student’s natural desire and love for music will florish. Students will develop musicianship while they explore and discover their true voice. Through individual lessons and singing together students will improve sight reading and music theory skills.
Geometry
This class is a complete Geometry course. We will learn basic Geometry skills and relate them to the Ancient times in fun and engaging ways.
Dramatic Literature and History
This dual-credit class offers students a chance to study the literature and history of the Ancient Times (Creation to 500AD). We will read plays, books, and poetry from this time. Students who take the performance class are encouraged to take this class as well, as there will be a great deal of crossover between the two. The class will include homework assignments, papers and several tests throughout the year.
Theatrical Performance Class
Students will rehearse and produce a professional quality production through this class. The class begins with learning audition monologues for the student’s play selection from the the Ancient Era (Creation to 500AD). Class time will also include learning the latest acting skills and techniques along with improvisation games. Students will be actively involved in making the set, costumes and props for the production at set builds.
